Implementing the Fliplock system brings many benefits, including reduced costs, a safer working environment and strength equal to its metal counterpart.
Accidents
When a metal strap or wire is cut the ends fly up and can easily catch the operatives.
The cut metal straps and wires are sharp and can wave about in a dangerous manner.
There have been numerous accidents over the last few years, luckily most only resulting in minor cuts.
In one recent accident an operative could have easily lost his eye when he received a cut to his eye whilst de-strapping a bale, even though he was wearing a full-face mask.
When a plastic strap is cut the operative can have his hand on the strap and when the strap is cut the tension is directed in the opposite direction away from the operative.
The cut strap is then totally harmless. |

Cost
The Fliplock plastic strapping system will, when taking direct, indirect costs (no tooling and no tooling repair) and reuse ability into consideration, is a lower cost than the metal binding system. |
Transport Costs
The plastic strapping system is lighter than the metal strapping system.
Where multiple straps are used for an application, a noticeable weight saving is made.
Therefore transportation costs less.
Strength
Fliplock's High Tenacity Woven Polyester Plastic Strapping is very strong in tension giving it the ability to be tightened very tightly around a package and to retain this tightness (very good retention memory) and at the same time withstand additional shock loading (18% more elasticity than steel) without failure. In comparison steel strapping if tensioned tightly, looses its shock loading abilities (poor elasticity 2%) and strap failure occurs more easily. Fliplock's High Teracity Woven Polyester Plastic Strapping is being used very sucessfully on applications retaining heavy products (see applications), eliminating breakages using polyester straps that have less break strength than the replaced steel straps.
Added Strength
For additional strength, Fliplock's High Tenacity Woven Polyester Plastic Strapping can be triple wrapped around a package, with just one fliplock clip being used. This double and triple wrapping doubles and triples the retaining strength allowing it to replace much stronger single straps with one single product size. Also, Fliplock's woven plastic polyester strapping's abilityto transfer tension around even tight bends enables double and triple wrappings to be successfully applied and still achieve tight retaining straps. Therefore with a single Fliplock Clip together with Fliplock High Tenacity Woven Polyester Plastic Strapping, many applications can be successfully strapped that would normally require a range of steel or polyester strapping, clips and tools.
